two of a kind.

in with the new...

and out with the old!

i have been trying to retake some of my "old" product photos as i go since i feel that my workmanship and style has changed a little over time - plus i am loving the more "rustic" feel of the windowsill background.  the skinny stacking ring set of two is definitely done more justice in the new photo (1st one) than the original, in my opinion!   although there isn't much difference between the two products, the texture in the background of the 1st photo is definitely more interesting than in the 2nd, and also shows off the great texture of the rings. 

the secret is to have stunning photos and great product descriptions and i try my hardest to have both - but it is definitely a learning curve.

drew's rings.

so i've been swamped by work at the office - seriously, what is the point of going on vacation when you just get stressed out again from all the work that piled up while you were gone?  sigh. 

however, it doesn't mean that i haven't been busy - i have completed the rings that will be heading off to LA later on this week to drew barrymore!  and i hope that she loves them - one floral band, one half round, one twisted and one scalloped, and all in sterling silver.  i am so in love with them - they are a lovely, organic combination and i am really hoping that they find a place in her jewelry box!

i love it when i get inspired by customer requests.  and here is the product of one of those requests!!!  three twisted bands married to three simple bands.  minimalist, rustic, beautiful... if i do say so myself!  (thanks, sheep!)

the effects of a melancholy playlist (aka showing off a little)

 everyone knows that i have to work to music - whether it's at home or at the office.  and lately, my playlist has led to the melancholy side of things... but i'm pretty happy with the results.  above, a knot ring stacked with a plain skinny band and a thick twisted band.  below, a baroque and infinity band paired with a full bead and a thick twist band.  lovely - perhaps an alternative wedding band?  this is what i get for loving bittersweet songs, heartbreak, & valentine's day so much.

little buds (of creativity).

this weekend, i grabbed some time to put some orders together - and realized i hadn't fired up my torch in a week.  A WEEK!  i don't think that that has happened in a very long time, but recently it has felt that things have been moving a mile a minute (i.e. renovations, entering an apartment after evicting someone and being attacked by fleas, working about 10 hours overtime, and being robbed) and there has been no time to stop and melt anything.  it actually made me a little bit sad because i know that taking a few minutes to make something - or even sketch or research a new design or technique - really helps me center myself.

after everything was resting nicely in the acid bath, i cut some 18 gauge wire and got to making it molten for my new stacking ring design.  based on my open bud hoop earrings (i'm still wearing mine!) these rings are a perfect match!  each of them have a lovely organic feel to them, with a unique texture and look to each of them.  i am a huge fan of artistic randomness, or happy artsy accidents, and because i really don't have much control over the whole melting process, i love how it all turned out.  they are delicate and earthy and modern all at the same time - and also perfect worn individually, or in a huge stack with plain skinny bands.  i think i'm in love!  (again.)
