wedding rings.

>> Friday, August 17, 2012

some people are way cooler than i ever could hope to me.  this super cool chick stacey and her husband - who first got married in costa rica - commissioned this set of rings for their vow renewal.  they are going to have a lovely ceremony on their ontario farm, and my rings get to be a part of it!  oh, love!

wedding season!

you can always tell when wedding season is upon us - the request for rings definitely increases!  just showing off a lovely pair of twisted sterling silver wedding bands that were just sent off to the bride and groom-to-be!  makes me wish i worked in white gold... or even better, platinum!

the effects of a melancholy playlist (aka showing off a little)

>> Saturday, January 14, 2012

everyone knows that i have to work to music - whether it's at home or at the office.  and lately, my playlist has led to the melancholy side of things... but i'm pretty happy with the results.  above, a knot ring stacked with a plain skinny band and a thick twisted band.  below, a baroque and infinity band paired with a full bead and a thick twist band.  lovely - perhaps an alternative wedding band?  this is what i get for loving bittersweet songs, heartbreak, & valentine's day so much.

the itty bitty gift guide part two - and definitely one of my favorites... inspired by a certain supernatural vampire wedding. (how could i let the release of 'breaking dawn' go by unnoticed?)

working. and not working.

i have been blissfully off work for a week.  while it was planned vacation time, i find that it has served more of a stress leave than a vacation.  it's so amazing how spending time with your kid and family can really make the awfulness of work stress seem far away.  i know that when i go back on tuesday (yay, long holiday weekend!) things will start up again, but i'm hoping that i will be rested - and zen - enough to handle it all.  i'm thinking that september really can't be any worse than august was!

that being said, i also have been working on new jewelry offerings... i knew the time off would be good for my brain!  so check out the thick sinple 14K gold filled band (first picture) and this marvelous (if i do say so myself!) wedding ring stacking set!  matching a recycled "diamond" solitare with a beaded band and plain stacking ring, this is just fabulous.  alternative, yes.  romantic, even more so.  and an indication of more designs to come.

i heart wedding rings.

i love making wedding ring sets - i sold another custom engagement ring set yesterday and it brought tears to my eye.  i have had the absolute honor of saying "yes" to so many couples (fantastically enough, both same and opposite-sex - hooray for marriage!) to make their wedding rings.  sometimes, a diamond just doesn't cut it - and really, it's all about the relationship, not about appearances.  etsy does a wonderful feature on their blog about weddings that i read quite religiously because it amazes me how much more beautiful and sentimental handmade celebrations are.

to be part of this handmade revolution just tickles me pink.  i love knowing that someone decided to pick my designs to wear on their fingers to represent their intense feelings for another human being.  YAY LOVE!

insane week. seriously.

>> Saturday, July 23, 2011

i just realized that i haven't posted in over a week, which hasn't happened in MONTHS. but seriously, this week has been totally insanely busy on both the work and home fronts. here's the list summarizing the crazy: - totally brutal work week and i'm pretty sure i'm up for some disciplinary action for sticking my nose where it doesn't belong (even though the work gets dumped on my desk in the end anyways), doctor's appointment because the mini sliced open her leg on some scrap metal that the contractors left in the backyard, being displaced because we had contractors working on our house, when they opened up our house the foundation was full of bugs all living together in some psycho harmony, and then helping L recover from a brief and misguided reunion with mr. robot.  (she's okay - but i think that we realized that he is just never going to change and we have to move him out of our lives but more on that later)

i do have to say though, the stress actually worked in my creative favor a little bit - i had been working on orders in the moments in between all of these things and created a new stack of rings.  I also find that when the husband is away (boys weekend - YAY!) it gives me time to think about new designs (and not worry about bothering him as i smash away) as well as spend some lovely quality time with the mini.  Pictured above, this four ring stack combines a reclaimed pebble ring, a twisted ring, a beaded ring and an infinity band.  delicate and rustic, i just love it.  another alternative to a conventional wedding set, maybe?
