take what you need.

the mini and i were downtown in our old 'hood today - we went to the dentist (it was her first "real" time and she did great, despite only letting the dentist clean only 2 teeth.  yes, that's right.  2.  sigh.) and had lunch with L, and did some urban hiking on the filthy city sidewalks.  on our way back to the car, the little red heart on this poster caught my eye.  and i stopped to read it.  it said:

and the little pull tabs underneath said things like "peace", "love", "hope" & "understanding".

how sweet and COOL is that?  and, obviously, people were stopping to take what they needed, because some of the tabs were gone.

i was tempted to steal the poster, but then stopped myself, because right then, with my daughter, in that moment, i didn't really need anything.

lone spinnerette.

showing off some lone spinnerettes - honestly i didn't think they would "work" as individual rings, but they totally have a minimalist beauty in their own right.  i wore the one pictured in the top image yesterday and it worked perfectly.  sigh.

(note to self: hammering the little faceted round to excess crushes it. so stop.)

happy valentine's day!

As the winter winds litter London with lonely hearts
Oh the warmth in your eyes swept me into your arms
Was it love or fear of the cold that led us through the night?
For every kiss your beauty trumped my doubt

And my head told my heart
"Let love grow"

the frolicking of the mumford boys is infectious in this video.  let love grow everyone! happy happy valentine's day!

there is not much that i can do with my actual physical self in regards to makeovers (some things are beyond help) but i've been retooling things in my shop and the blog lately.  inspired by the whole instagram esthetic (thank you, anne-marie!) i'm moving towards a more artsy look.  and i think i like it!

i love it when i get inspired by customer requests.  and here is the product of one of those requests!!!  three twisted bands married to three simple bands.  minimalist, rustic, beautiful... if i do say so myself!  (thanks, sheep!)

(love the way the photos turned out as well - who knew a not-so great paint job would be the perfect backdrop?)
