holiday.

so I am seriously guilty of abandoning my blog. in the return back to work and the end of my maternity leave and then the rapid onset of the holidays, this little space has been neglected. i'm hoping in the new year I can get back to posting - resolutions, much? watch this space for boxing day and new year sales - they are coming up and you can save big!!! in the meantime, I am posting my favorite Christmas song - a bit of a guilty pleasure - and wishing you and yours a happy and healthy holiday season.

merry merry, y'all.

so almost another month has gone by, and here we are on christmas day. between fighting a terrible cold (seriously, newborns should be exempt from illness) and getting ready for the holidays, the time has just flown away from me. in the early hours of xmas morning though, i am taking a few rare solitary minutes to count my blessings - and there are many despite the challenges we have had in 2012.

in honor of baby jesus's birthday, i am sending out this great cover of one of my favorite holiday songs. mariah, you got nothing on zebrahead - rock on, you orange county boys.

only 5 days to go!

it's crazy how fast the time just goes. i can't believe that it is only 5 days (well, even less now!) until christmas. and it is totally different when you have a kid - it gives you every excuse to pull out all the stops - and the cheesiest ones, of course.   my living room is strewn with wrapping paper and ribbon and glitter and tape, and i still haven't wrapped everything.  my fingers are raw and shredded from the acid bath and my sanding blocks as i get all the last minute jewelry orders out the door. my mastercard is straining from the financial burden i have suddenly piled on it. and my oven is constantly going with holiday baking.

it's a miracle that it all gets done - but the even bigger miracle is having all of these marvelous reasons to do it all.

dreaming of a handmade christmas!

i can't believe that it's december already. i remember being pregnant at this time last year and thinking, "next year, the mini will be about 8 months old... how far away that seems!" and here we are, another holiday season upon us. i've finished up some ring orders, and find myself thinking about new designs for the new year...

i am very proud of myself this christmas - almost everything i will be giving as gifts is handmade! from the fantastic reclaimed cedar soapdishes from andrewsreclaimed, to smilemoon's star candle holder, to the fragrant handmade soap from sudsandsuch, and dichroic glass from combustionglassworks, i've been collecting everything in a box as i purchase them. i'm sure i've bought more than i need, but then i can give presents to myself! i've also bought way too many things for the mini, and given them to her already. oh well. it's her first christmas!!!!!!!!

monkeying around

my friend heather had another baby and for his present this christmas, he'll be getting this little guy! her other two already have their own monkeys, so it just makes sense that he should have one of his very own.

even though the mini has THREE sock monkeys, when she saw this one, her eyes lit up like a christmas tree. how fitting!!!!
